nashville dining
nashville has a crazy lineup of restaurants and bars to choose from. amidst the chaos of broadway and touristville, it can be hard to not just pick a random option. here is my blatant recommendation: choose in advance. if you're going to spend a pretty penny here, make sure it's one the best of food and experiences nashville has to offer.
bakersfield

HIGHLIGHTS: Casual Atmosphere, Spice Level 100, Make a Reservation | 10/10
one of the most fun taco spreads i've had the pleasure of eating and one of the hardest orders i've ever made. caution: when your order says something is spicier than the norm, do yourself a favor and believe him. i ordered a spicy taco and couldn't stop salivating for an hour. seriously delicious and i don't regret a bite.
nada

HIGHLIGHTS: Solid Mexican Food, A Quick Bite, In & Out Experience | 5.5/10
your typical 'go with the flow' spot for a quick bite but not without a spendy bill. tacos were just okay and the plantain chips were not my favorite. i wouldn't go again but i wouldn't say it was 'bad' either.
saint anejo

HIGHLIGHTS: Location, Ambiance, Stellar Tacos and Margs | 8.5/10
my girls trip favorite and the first stop we made in nashville. perfect spot to take a walk and explore around afterwards. stellar tacos, hefty margs, and strong buzzes to occupy you throughout the day.
burger up

HIGHLIGHTS: The Perfect Lunch, Family & Budget-Friendly, Large Portions | 7.5/10
a platter of three different types of fries and sauces? yes. a hearty homemade chicken noodle soup cup? double yes. burger up simply couldn't get any better. i should probably try the burger next time.
the assembly food hall

HIGHLIGHTS: A Nashville Must, An Indecisive Foodies Nightmare, Options for Days | 10/10
if you know anything about nashville chances are you've heard of the assembly hall. if you haven't, get it on your tourist agenda ASAP. it's loaded with yummy options, live music, and opportunities to drink more wine than necessary.
sixty vines

HIGHLIGHTS: Pricey Eats, Make That Reservation, High Society Service & Wine | 9/10
a beautiful restoration-hardware on steroid set-up perfect for special occasions, instagrammable dinners, or baby showers. make your reservation in advance because its a hot commodity and remember that even though the prices are steep the food is well worth it. a handful of different types of pastas, appetizers, and drinks to share around the table. top dollar wines are a must.
red phone booth

HIGHLIGHTS: Ambiance & Experience Driven, Personalized Service, Speakeasy | 10/10
my second best nashville experience thus far. between the prohibition-styled interiors, cigar-smelling hallways to the passcode needed at the entrance, this is an experience you won't (or will) forget. our main guy, bobby, made my absolute night and comped us with a free bottle of white wine. the food could have been garbage and i could've cared less simply because of how wonderful this spot was. thankfully, it wasn't garbage - it was quite good, and the vibes were, too.
the southern steak & oyster

HIGHLIGHTS: Brunch and Mimosas, Something for Everyone, Feels Like Home | 8/10
the perfect spot for brunch with large groups - you're more likely to get in with a reservation in advance. bottomless mimosas and biscuits and gravy was all I needed to start the day. i'd definitely return for another meal - possibly even dinner for some oysters.
burger republic

HIGHLIGHTS: Location, Quick Bite & Big Calories, Hungover Vibes | 7/10
this cute little spot was just steps away from my friend's new apartment and was the perfect ending to a long weekend of eating and drinking. the milkshake was just what I needed to recover and the chicken fingers were large size portioned and just the type of recovery grub needed to get me through my flight home.
